Owen Drive-In

The Owen Drive-In is Missouri’s smallest drive-in and is an old solo screen, grass field with a capacity at almost 80 cars. It was opened by George Owen in May 1955. The Owen Drive-In was open seasonally from April thru September.

It was closed in 2013 upon the death of Harold Owen.

Address: 1 Owen Dr, Seymour, MO 65746 Phone:(417) 935-2232 this is the address and phone number listed on their facebook page. According to their facebook page due to health reasons the drive-in did not open in 2014.

A closer address (at least according to Google) is 1168 E. Clinton Ave, Seymour, MO. The drive-in sits on the NE corner of the intersection and is still intact. http://tinyurl.com/hyumaa3

1 Owen Street where Google is currently mapping is west of Seymour and is clearly NOT the correct address.

Let’s settle this. The actual address for this theater is now 1460 E Clinton Ave, Seymour, MO 65746. Now MFA Oil Company per Google Maps. This points directly to the entrance road. FYI Owen Dr. did not exist when this drive in was open.

Please update.

The screen was removed in 2020 and an O'Reilly Auto Parts was built at the former theater site in 2022.

The projection booth/concession stand remains, although it is in less than ideal condition. Given its proximity to the parking area, I’m surprised they didn’t tear it down as well.
